So Long Period Stains

Who hasn't had a period stain or two along the way? From undies to fav jeans, period stains can be a royal pain. But happily they're often non-fatal and can be mostly/completley removed.

menstrual period stains

For all, old or new the best thing is first to soak the item with ammonia, the regular that you buy in the store, 1 gal of water for 1/3 cup of ammonia, test first on an inconspicous place. At the begining try less amonia more water until you find your recipe.

Shampoo is NOT just for Hair

WITHOUT FAIL - If you use any SHAMPOO, it will take out period stains...even if you are not able to wash it straightaway.

Try it!!!

Things that work for me

I use cold water and Ivory soap. It takes some scrubbing. The other way I've found is cold water and baking soda. If the stain is not fresh rub the baking soda in a bit then let it soak.

Ammonia before water!!

A little of ammonia on the stain before you throw it in the wash. It has always worked for me!

Dr. Bronner's Castille Soap!

This is the only thing that has ever truly worked for me. Just squirt some in your hand, run the underwear under cold water and rub two sides of the underwear together briskly, making a foam. I don't think the scent matters but I usually use peppermint or lavendar. Also, the words on the bottle are just so weird, you'll be entertained through the inconvenience of having to wash your underwear in the middle of the day. Also, if you're a true freak for the "all-purpose", it's biodegradable and you can use it as a shampoo, body wash, hand soap, kitchen and bathroom cleaner, and floor cleaner... and other things, I believe the bottle says 18-in-1.
