So Long Period Stains

Who hasn't had a period stain or two along the way? From undies to fav jeans, period stains can be a royal pain. But happily they're often non-fatal and can be mostly/completley removed.

What period stain removal strategies have you tried and what works best for you?

Peroxide Method

My mother taugt me about the peroxide method. Pour some peroxide on the stain leave it for a few minutes. You will see it foaming up and getting warm. This means it is working. Then, squash out (wash the underwear or whatever fabric that was stained by rubbing the stained part with the clean parts) under warm water. Then wash it in the washing machine if there is anything left behind.

This method has always worked for me. Sometimes because I am usually in so much pain at the time, I don't feel like doing it but, it must be done. LOL.

Getting rid of period stains

Spit. If you spit (amount depends on the size of the stain) and then rub the fabric together the stain should come out. The enzymes in your spit help to break down your own blood. I'm glad I read that Women's World... works great

Oxyclean works wonders

I love Oxyclean, but *not* the premixed spray. Get the powder, get a spray bottle, make a concentrate of your own. I use an entire scoop to 8 oz. of warm water. This stuff gets out everything, even red wine from a white sweater.

My solution

I wouldn't recommend using peroxide. It does remove the stain, but it also bleaches your clothing over time. I've found what works best for me is to toss it in the shower. I love taking super hot showers. So while I let the water get to the right temperature i toss my undies in there. When I'm showering I grab them and rub soap (bar soap) on them and rub them against another part of the undies. Then I rinse them and let them dry, and wash as normal. I haven't had a problem with it.

Also another idea I use every now and then. I have a set of underwear to use just for those days, etc. They're not the nicest I have, bar from it, but I don't worry about staining my nice ones.
