TTC - To Say or Say Not?

While Trying to Conceive, have you found others (even people you barely know) asking prying questions or offering unsolicited advice? Do you think they mean well and just don't think, or are they being meddling and/or on the rude side? Do you respond, ignore it, brew over it all night...?

TTC - To Say or Say Not?

Not telling a soul

I've been married 2 years this month and so we've been getting a lot of questions as to when we are going to "start our family." I just say that we are waiting until I'm done with school, but that ends this month, so I'll need to think of a new response. My brother- and sister-in-law told everyone when they started trying & it took them 6 months to get pregnant with everyone constantly bugging them along the way. I've learned from their mistake.

Teacher learning a few lessons...

Let's just say... my biological clock is ticking so louad that only the deaf have the pleasure of not hearing it... We got pregnant two years ago and miscarried in the second month... We made a very conscious decision to put it on hold until I finished school and we hwere more stable financially. I am a school teacher and a time manager. So of course i want a due date in May or June to reduce what time I will out of work. Well, in Febrauary I stopped birth control with the advice of my PHD. As far as I can remember, before BC I was very much still like a clock, I knew what time and day I would start w/o fail. Now 5 months later I have had only 3 cycles. We are starting to try next week, but I am late again... It is probably just the BC - talked to PHD, had many tests, several sonograms, etc. Everything is fine no PCOS, thankfully. So who knows I might be prego now and just don't know it.... Anyways, on Monday when I go to PHD we will test and see.
As for answering people I just tell them - not yet. It is dishearting when I am asked 100 times a day.. but I do know they mean well and that I truly brought it on myself.

Oops I did it again!

I just wanted to say that we had been trying for a long time and everytime we went to my husband's parents house when they didnt know they were always telling us how EVERYONE ELSE is having grandkids and they were never going to be grandparents... it made me so mad that I wanted to stop visiting them because I knew that they would bring it up every time. After we had been trying for 6 months all of a sudden I just didnt have a period. The doctor wasnt being very helpful in the fact that he just wanted to put me on drugs and didnt even mess with trying to figure out if I was pregnant or not. After I had had enough, I decided that maybe I was too stressed out about the whole thing and if i told my parents and my husbands parents maybe they would support me, get off my back, and finally I would be able to know if there was anything in the family history that would help me know what was wrong with me. When we told my husbands mom she was SO excited but my mom was just like.. what do you want me to say? I just wanted to find out if she had trouble conceiving and it was a short "no" so now that im still not pregnant and they know, I just feel it was a waste of breath. I guess I should have never told them, but you know what they say its tough when you learn things the hard way!

TTC or Just Having Fun!

My husband and I got married about 7 months ago after dating for 9 years. We quickly stopped using birth control and await the results every month. Now, we have been lucky and almost no one has asked us when we are going to have a baby, but for the few that do I usually deny that we are trying or tell them we aren't trying but we aren't doing anything to prevent it. We are definately enjoying ourselves. We have bought a house, paid off our cars, and we have begun putting money away in savings. I don't believe that you can every be completely ready for parenthood, but you can prepare the life you are living now for the changes to come. It is a huge undertaking and one that will be with you for the rest of your life. We can't wait to be parents, but we are still waiting on mother nature.

Big mouth's regrets

I got so excited when we decided to try that I opened my big mouth. Now I completely regret it. I really thought I'd get pregnant right away but it's been a year. I don't know what's worse: friends and family constantly asking if I have any "baby news" or now that it's been so long, the way they tip toe around the subject. I'm 25! everyone I know either has kids or is pregnant. I feel like a freak and a failure.

It's like they are saying "why aren't you pregnant yet"???

I got married in August 2007, and so now everyone asks me when we are going to have a baby. We have been trying since October- so it is starting to become a sensitive question. I don't think people really mean to stress me out- but when I get asked all the time- sometimes I just say we are waiting, or "if it happens it happens", when honestly inside I hope every month that I get pregnant! It starts to feel like they are asking why we aren't pregnant yet versus are we trying. Talk about adding to the stress!!!!
