TTC After Birth Control

Did you recently -- or some time ago -- come off birth control to TTC? What birth control were you using? Have your periods/cycles returned to your normal? Are you waiting a few months, or trying right away?

Confused About What to Do

I went off the pill Feb.14th after being on it since I was 18. This is my first cycle off the pill. On the pill I started like clock-work on a Tuesday morning. This cycle, I had a little spotting on Monday and nothing since. I have had stronger PMS symptoms than when on the pill with this cycle, plus nausia if I don't eat at my regular time and when I did yoga the other night. This has never happened to me. Should I take a pregnancy test or is it too early? I can't even remember what my non-medically regulated period was like. How long should I wait before I know somethings up? The main reason I want to know now is because I'll be going out of town to see family and friends and don't want to avoid alcohol and create the inevitable stir sure to follow from not having a glass of wine at dinner. Help!

Discouragement & Disappointment

I got off BC in August 2009. Been TTC ever since with no luck. My and my husband keep thinking every month, "This is it. This is our month." But it never happens. I keep getting BFN's. It gets really depressing. It is so hard not to get discouraged each month when all you really want is a baby of your own. It seems like everyone around me are either pregnant or just had their baby. I sometimes wonder if I am even ovulating. My cycles have been crazy since off BC. I had one cycle that lasted 49 days! Also, I have been diagnosed with HPV. But the Dr. told me that should not get in the way of me TTC or harm my baby when I do conceive. It feels like my body has completely given up on me. Does anyone know what Im talking about?

Waiting on my period post IUD

I recently had my IUD (Mirena) removed January 19th. I was bleeding a little a couple of days prior to the removal and continued to bleed about 4 days following the removal. Today is March 1st and I still have not had a period. I'm not actively ttc; my hubby and I are using condoms in the mean time. We plan to ttc later this year sometime between Oct-Dec. However, I am a little worried. Not sure if I ovulated but it sure felt like it (breast tenderness, increased clear cm, and extremely high libido). I haven't charted anything but I guess I should try.

Off B/C, not quite TTC yet.

My periods were very heavy and irregular, so as a result, I was on Ortho Tricyclen for eleven years. Now, I've been off for one month. So far, I've ovulated and it is soon going to be time for my period. We aren't TTC just yet, but rather letting my cycle do its thing naturally, and getting the hormones out of my system first. Hoping to start TTC in late summer!!

pregnant after BC!!

Well with my first pregnancy the doctor took me off birth control due to migranes and when I was going to get back on them after being off them for 4 months I was already 2 months pregnant. Well this time my hubby and I decided it was time to TTC. So I stopped taking birth control in Oct 2009. Well I recently found I was 6 weeks pregnant!! So keep TTC and remember to have fun with it !!!!

Can BC hormones hurt your unborn baby?

I've been told yes by some people and no by others. But I've been unable to find any REAL information on it. Can hormones from BC cause miscarriages, birth defects, low birth rate, or anything else that I wouldn't want happening to my baby? I ask because it was recommended to me to be off BC for 6 months before TTC to make sure all the synthetic hormones are out of my system. Is that really necessary? Is there any evidence that those hormones could cause an undesirable effect if I conceived while they were still in my body?
