TTC After Birth Control

Did you recently -- or some time ago -- come off birth control to TTC? What birth control were you using? Have your periods/cycles returned to your normal? Are you waiting a few months, or trying right away?

feel better

Coming off on bc made me feel way better and more "like a woman" although periods are now more painful. My doctor recommended that i take more folic acid for the first few months after coming off bc.

TTC month 4...

I came off bc in Oct 2011 after 4 yrs on cilest, 33 days later af came. Decembers af came 31 days later and i was hopeful i was getting into some sort of cycle. January came but my af didnt...i was convinced i was pg but annoyingly after 38 days af appeared :-(

I had no idea other than a bit of cm here and there to tell if i'm ovulating, so i decided to buy a load of OPK's off ebay. I tested from a couple of days after af stopped but it's now day 28 and no positive OPK. I definitely had an increase in EWCM last week so not sure if i missed my surge?!?

Oh and another annoyin thing is the lovely crop of spots on my chin which stay around for at leas 2wks a month (definitely had more this month)

TTC first time after being on BC 15+ years

I just stopped BC beginning of Aug 2011 and had been on it for 18 years straight (docs had no issues with this). The withdrawal was horrible, fatigue, headaches, etc (but am so happy I did because I didn't realize how crappy it was making me feel all these past years). TTC since Sept 2011 (doc said I didn't have to wait 3 months like some recommend). Periods are averaging 34 to 36 day, and the flow is heavy, but appear to be normal. Before BC, I was irregular (every 18 to 60 days) but not anymore. Discovered in Nov & Dec 2011 I'm ovulating around every 22-23 days thru use of the OPK. Hoping I get a pos preg test this week. If not, I got those FSH test strips. Doc said to try for 6 months before I go in for tests. I highly recommend the OPK test strips for anyone coming off of BC because the 'average' ovulation of 14 days doesn't pertain to some of us and I had to test almost every day for 2 months to find out when I was ovulating (also using ferning microscope but a little hard to read at times) I'm hoping that if no baby this month, that the powers that be are on our side soon.

Off BC and symptom spotting / cycle monitoring!

I came off BC at the end of Dec to TTC and am just waiting to see what happens with my cycle.. but I can't lie, I am symptom spotting already!

Have been having what I guess are ovulation cramps, or early AF cramps for the last 3 days or so. Am now on day 18 of my cycle which while on the minipill (progestogen only pill) was 28 days, but I think it was longer before the pill.

So, just waiting to see what happens, and trying to be realistic, but now we have decided to TTC just want it to happen...

TTC After Birth Control

I just recently came off my birth control (September 15) I was taking ortho lo and had a normal period for October and November, which i usually get every 25 days and only last for 4 days. But for the month of November after I last got my period, my husband and I were TTC, I thought and he even thought that I was having some pregnancy symptoms because I was getting the upset stomach, headaches, mood swings, soreness, and everything. So when the 25 days came since my last period, i didn't get it, so i waited until the next day just to make sure I didn't get it and took a HPT and it was positive, so just to be sure I took another one and it was showing the 2 lines one which was a faint line, but none the less a positive. I was excited, but over the past 2 days I had a light spotting with was a brownish color and I didn't know if it was implantation bleeding or the start of my period, because the 2 positive HPT were throwing me off. And today I started my period, which is a week late! so instead of 25 days its been 32 days! I was heart broken :-( anyone going through this?!

Confused with cycles!

I am getting really confused at the moment with my cycles. I came off bc at the end of August and have been ttc our first child since then. I had my normal bleed after my last bc pill and this cycle was 37 days long until i got 3 days of af. My 2nd cycle was 36 days long and for this cycle i was using a clearblue fertility monitor so i could pinpoint exactly when i ovulated with my cycles being so long. I got a high read on day 24 on the monitor but no peak read which means i didn't ovulate. I am now on my 3rd cycle and using the monitor again and i have had one high read on day 10 and 2 peak reads on day 11 and 12 meaning i have ovulated. But as i have ovulated so early in this cycle it will mean this cycle is only 26 days long! Do you think this month is my forst normal cycle from coming off the bc as i know it takes a while? Also do you think i will be able to concieve ovulating on day 11/12? My husband and i did the deed both days so i am keeping my fingers crossed for third cycle lucky! Any advice you can give would be helpful as everything is so confusing.
