A sweet husband helps

My hubby always plans something sweet to take my mind off the pain, like sometimes we'll go to the park and walk for a few hours or he'll make me dinner & rent a movie I've been dying to see. It's nice to have a husband that tries to help you instead of avoiding you :)

Nothing at all.

I don't do anything, and I get pretty terrible cramping. I just sleep it off. That's...it. No heating pads, no medicating myself. It's very rare that the pain is SO unbearable that I resort to medication.

3's a charm

I try to use a three fold approach. One: (it has already been covered) but Ibprofen! It's a miracle drug. Two: an electric heating pad. It makes my uterus cozy and relaxed. And three: Dark chocolate (self-explanatory).

Evening Primrose Oil and Heat

I'm allergic to NSAIDs, which are all the over-the-counter painkillers besides acetaminophen, which is worthless for cramps. So I found an herb that does the same thing (there are a lot of them, just google "antiprostaglandins") called Evening Primrose Oil. You can buy it at CVS, probably Walmart, lots of places. You have to take it when the cramps are just starting (or before they start as a preventative measure) but they don't work if the pain has already started. So I take them once every 8 hours or so on days when I should be crampy, and if I miss it or get crampy anyway I always use a heating pad.
