Mom and Intro to Periods

How would you say your mom did during your early period years? Exceptional job, making you feel comfortable with your period? Or could she have used some work in that department? Will you do things differently if you have a daughter?

Awesome Mom

My mom has always been very open about things like that, and when I got my first at 14, I knew right away what was going on, so I never freaked out or got worried. I just went straight to her and told her "I think I just got my first period...". She handed me a pad and that was that.

I was extremly lucky in that department. I too started when I was 12 in the 5th grade. I kinda paniced...I don't know why but I called my mom at work (I was at school) and she came right up with what I needed. Not to long after I started my period, we had one of those
-the girls will be in this room and the boys in the other room- meetings to learn about our bodys and my mom even came up to the school for that too. Im glad I had such a careing mom

humiliating first period

I had my first period on Thanksgiving day when I was in 5th grade. We were at my grandmother's house. I told my mom and she literally looked me in the eyes and said, "well, go tell your Aunt Sue." I was humiliated. I was always in envy of those girls who had moms that made a special day out of it with their daughters. Oh well! I guess we don't always get what we want or need in life=)

Mum was the best!

My mum was very good. She started about the same age as me and works in the beauty industry so is in touch with feminine needs! She was very supportive and let me have a day off school to get used to it. I remember that I wore pads the first two days and absolutely HATED them!! LOL So I begged my mum to try the tampons. She was always matter of fact about it and I hope to be the same whenever I have kids.

really great mom

My mom was really great, she's a midwife so was never embarresed about talking to me about it all - when i lived at home she could predict to the second when i was due on, i suffered with bad migraines when my periods first started and she was a star, i can still talk to her if i have any probs, been very lucky.
