Question

What are the non-contraceptive benefits of the pill (OCPs)?

Answer

OCPs make menses lighter, less painful and more regular. There is also a marked decrease in the risk of future ovarian and uterine cancer, especially with prolonged use, and there is no documented increase in the risk of breast cancer (this is different from hormone replacement therapy in which there is a slightly increased risk of breast cancer), decrease in benign ovarian and breast cysts, decrease in endometrioisis and fibriods, PMS, acne and facial hair growth.
