Reproductive Endocrinologist

Often referred to as an RE and sometimes as REI (reproductive endocrinology infertility). Endocrinology is the medical field dedicated the study and treatment of the endocrine, or hormonal, system. A Reproductive Endocrinologist is a physician who is Board-certified in Obstetrics-Gynecology (OB/Gyn) and then completes additional fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology.

Secondary Infertility

Refers to the inability to conceive a pregnancy after having previously been pregnant, as compared to primary infertility. Most women who are diagnosed as having secondary infertility have previously experienced pregnancy and delivery, and then have difficulty getting pregnant later. Technically, even women who have only conceived but not delivered a child (i.e. those who have experienced miscarriage) might be diagnosed with secondary infertility.

Spotting

Light bleeding that occurs at a time during the month other than the menstrual period.
