Milk & Sugar and Bad Cramps |
| Does anyone notice that milk and sugar make cramps worse or is it just me? |

Language |
| I like to talk about menstruation's connection to health and fertility, though sometimes I am concerned that saying that is kind of like "Ableism" or some other kind of prejudice against those who don't have periods or aren't fertile.
I don't like talking about menstrual "syndrome" or "symptoms". Those kind of words make it sound like a disease! I also don't like talking about "cramps" because I feel like that's a catch word. What does it actual mean?
I think in order to like talking about our periods it would help to have a better vocabulary with which to do so. In the words of Thomas Hardy, "It is difficult for a woman to define her feelings in a language which is chiefly made by men to express theirs." Whatever contributions women made/make to English, there aren't many in reference to this very prominent aspect of our lives. |

| Four months ago I got off the pill after being on it for 10+ years. I am so excited to ovulate for real and it makes me happy to have cramps because I know my body is healthy and operating the way nature intended. My friends think I'm nuts for loving my period so much, but I really feel so much more connected with myself now that I'm not putting synthetic hormones in my body. |

Best Friend...Celebrate! |
| I like the fact that our bodies are engineered to perform certain tasks. I know that my period is a sign that everything is probabbly in working order. When I see it, it generates a sigh of relief. Of course, I will welcome the day when its absence means I am carrying a little one. For now, Aunt Flo is my best friend! |

Thank God I have one! |
| Given the ups and downs and erratic periods I've had over the last 2 years, when I actually get one I'm beyond thrilled. I've even begun to find the horrible cramps somewhat comforting. It helps me to check in with my body and keep track of how I'm functioning. I know that at least one day I may be able to conceive and that's all I care about. |
