First Period Experience

Where were you when your first period started? How old were you? Did you talk to your mom, friends? What was your initial reaction? Retrospectively, could it have been different or more positive experience, and, if so, how?

Aunt Flo's First Visit - 9 1/2 years old

I got my first period when I was nine and a half, too! Luckily, I was one of those nerdy kids in elementary school who liked to read up on how things work and paid attention during sex ed! I understood what was happening, though it was a little confusing as to why I had to *bleed* every month. I told my mom later that day and she was surprized that I started that early, but happy none-the-less that I was growing up :)

Becoming a Young Woman

I got my first period the week I turned 12...or was it 11? Anyway, I woke up one morning with the greatest pain I'd ever felt. I mean, I literally thought something was ripping inside of me. I ran to the bathroom to discover what I thought were my insides leaking out of me! I called for my mom and with much happiness, she explained I had become a "senorita", a young woman. I never realized becoming a young woman could be so traumatizing!

Everything Happens 4 A Reason...

My 1st period...I got suspended from school for something I didnt do...but thanks to the 3 day suspension I got my period at home on my 1st day suspended at the time I should have been in school. Thats why everything happens for a reason. I really didnt know much about the period, my grandmother was home that day so she explained it, but if I would have been at school...how embarassing that would have been. lol.

Mom in another country

I was 11 and had gone to visit my family in Ireland. My Mom had stayed home and i didn't know my grandmother very much so i didn't want to tell her or ask for something for the pain. I remember when i called my mom and told her she spoke to my Gran and asked her to give me something, and although it helped some it ruined the second week of my trip because i was so tired and in pain.
I always thought it was amazing that my Mom just knew to send me with a pack of pads, and i was forever grateful!!

I was 9 and a half when I got my period. :[

Well, I started my period when I was 9 and a half, almost 10 years old. I had no idea what was happening to me since I was so young and my mom hadn't told me anything about that. I thought I was dying and I cryed because I thought something was wrong with me. lol. But, the good thing is that I was home and not somewhere else.
