I was diagnosed with PMDD a few years ago, as my PMS had become more than an inconvenience in my life. It was incapacitating. I started a low dose of antidepressant for my late luteal phase(basically, a little bit after ovulation) and it really has helped. I rec. that if your PMS is severe enough to really disrupt your life, that you ask your health care provider for information regarding this. You don't have to suffer like this. I still do have some minor PMS symptoms, but I am much more stable emotionally at pms time. Remember that the physical symptoms do not cease with antidepressant therapy- for those you can take ibuprophen (acetaminophen has been shown to be less effective) and other rememdies for the discomfort.
