Mom and Intro to Periods
How would you say your mom did during your early period years? Exceptional job, making you feel comfortable with your period? Or could she have used some work in that department? Will you do things differently if you have a daughter?

My intro to periods...

My mom probably did the best she knew how to at the time. She gave me a (1970's) period information booklet. I believe I remember it vaguely referred to chickens/eggs and other such reproduction information. It wasn't very informative and I felt lost after reading it. Luckly, I challenged myself to learn more on my own. :)

Since I have a tween daughter who will be getting a period shortly, I took control and talked with her about the whole subject of sex and reproduction and made sure if she had any questions to come to me. I also purchased her a modern book called "The Period Book" can't remember the author's name, but it was a very effective teaching tool. I wanted her to feel comfortable with herself and have the knowledge I didn't.
