Feminine Protection Usage
What was the first type of feminine protection you used - pads, tampons, menstrual cup? Do you still use the same feminine protection, or did you switch completely - when, why?

I started with commercial pads and have never had success with tampons. Tampons make my cramps worse and by the time the cramps are gone, the flo is so light, I really don't need much protection, so I switch to liners. About 7 years ago, we moved to a very rural area and I became a stay at home mom. Since I rarely went into town, I decided to start making my own cloth pads at home. I used free patterns off of the internet and used flannel. Making my own pads is a fun, creative outlet and I can completely customize and personalize the experience, so that I actually *look forward to* my period. Now I make low-sew pads with old felted (soft) wool sweaters (the snaps/buttons are sewn) and I love them! Also, my cramps and flo are less. I use disposables for travel.
