Mirena is for me

Posted by: zinf77 on Fri Jan 18, 2008
I recently just had my first child and before then didn't use any type of bc. When the time came for me to pick what I was going to use, I did a lot of research. I was afraid that I would forget to take a pill everyday so I decided to go with Mirena IUD. For the cost it is def. worth it since it lasts for 5 years. The only cons are for the first 3 - 4 months you can have spotting and heavier periods but after that, 30% of women don't have periods at all. The rest of the women have lighter shorter periods. My obgyn told me that if you can handle the bleeding the first months, then it is def the way to go because you don't have to worry about it and it is pretty much the same effectiviness of getting your tubes tied. My husband loves it too because we don't have to worry about another child until we are ready.
