Catamenial Epilepsy and Endomentriosis

Posted by: smuscie on Wed Aug 20, 2008
I have Epilepsy...and not just to a tiny degree. I have catamenial epilepsy, which means that basically my hormones and seizure activity are tied together. This makes periods fun lol! I also have endometriosis, which adds to the fun. Fortunately, after having my daughter nearly 4 years ago things have gotten a lot better! It used to be that ovulating, premenstrual symptoms, and my period would be so excruciating that I would have horrible seizures. I had to plan my work schedule around the times I would have these seizures and even though I carefully charted and mapped and calculated EVERYTHING there would still be those early periods or the periods that came a bit late that would give me seizures while I was at work. It was no way to live!
For now my epileptic issues are manageable but my endometrial issues have begun to take their toll on my body. Time for more meds I suppose *sigh*. I can't take hormonal birth control to make things better. I really wish I could because it seems like it would be so nice to just take a pill a day and be completely normal like everyone else...
I've gotten the recommendation for a hysterectomy a few times but I'm not willing to go that route yet. I still want more kids.
