Insulin Resistance/PCOS

I was diagnosed with PCOS 15 years ago by my gynocologist as my periods were very irregular and weight control was very difficult. Back then, not much was known about the disease. The pill was the only answer and it only masks the symptoms and doesn't treat the root cause. I found an endocrinologist in Houston, TX that specializes in PCOS and diagnosed me with Insulin Resistance/PCOS. He has been treating me with 4/1000 2x/day of Avandamet. The Avandia has been very effective for me in addition to the metformin. It's much easier to control the weight control and I've tracked 45 cycles on this website with an average of 33 days in the last 5 years. I've had many discussions with my doctor about pregnancy. He told me that if the Thryoid is not functioning at a high enough level (not "normal" according to the charts), you will be able to get pregnant but not stay pregnant. I've since began taking levothyroxine as my T3 is "normal", but "not high enough for me, as I'm not 'normal'". I consider my treatment thus far, successful. Hope this is helpful.
