When Did You Decide Baby Names?
At what point did you select the name that you actually gave your baby? Before you were pregnant, during pregnancy, after delivery?

When Did You Decide Baby Names?
baby names
It was during my pregnancy and i was about eight months pregnant. The only reason why i waited until then is because so then i knew if i was having a boy or girl.

When Did You Decide Baby Names?
keep the name to yourself!
We had a name picked out for the longest time. Our mistake was telling others. Everybody had their own opinion, from "I just don't like it" to "I'll call her by her middle name instead". The nerve! So, about 3 days before I had my child, I changed the name, and told only my husband, thankfully he agreed. So come the big day, everyone was expecting one name, and got a completely different one. Now, by no means did I change it b/c others didn't like it, but I thought it would be good to have a name that wasn't 'tarnished' by other peoples thoughts. I still like the first name I thought of, and now my sister in law says she'll probably use it for her daughter! I'd be thrilled.

When Did You Decide Baby Names?
Gabriela Hope
We waited until we found out that we were having a girl at nearly 20 weeks pregnant before getting serious about finding the perfect name. We found out May 21 we were having a girl and we were planning a beach vacation three weeks later so we decided to take a baby name book to the beach and look at the names during that time. We did this, and we each went through the girls' names in the book and if one of us liked a name, we wrote it down. (We ate fresh sushi on the beach while we were doing this.) Then, we went through the list and we each got to strike a name we didn't like at all, shortening the list. Still, the list was pretty long. And we couldn't decide on a name during the pregnancy so we just took six or seven that we really liked and decided to wait until we saw our daughter. I picked out her middle name "Hope" because my grandma and husband's brother-in-law died while I was pregnant with her and I'm a strong Christian and just sensed the Holy Spirit leading me that I should call her middle name Hope b/c this is what she was for me. But we still needed a first name! Right after she was born as the nurses were cleaning her, her dad (whose middle name is Gabriel but who said he wouldn't be open to having a child named after him b/c it's egotistical) said, "She looks like a Gabrielle." I said, "Gabriela?" "Gabriela?" he said. "For the first name?" I asked. He said yes, so our daughter's name was Gabriela Hope. We had discussed giving her the middle name of Gabriela but giving it to her as a first name was a big shock> It's my favorite baby name in the world now.

When Did You Decide Baby Names?
Our Faery
We started sounding out baby names when I was about three weeks pregnant. We didn't actually settle on any girl names until I was six months pregnant and in the hospital with complications. Even then, all we picked out were two girl names and no boy names. Thank goodness we had a daughter. We named her Mia Fae (meaning "my faery") which was fitting because she was very early and weighed only 3 lbs 3 oz.

When Did You Decide Baby Names?
picked out before ttc
My Husband and I have been trying now for 6 months and before we even started ttc we picked out baby names. He came up with a list and I came up with a list and we have already decided on our names. We currently are ttc and my husband couldnt be happier, but I am terified of becoming a mother. I know I will be excited when I find out that I am pregnant, but it is definatly overwhelming.

When Did You Decide Baby Names?
used a list of names
My husband came up with our first son's name,Kaleb, and I agreed that I liked it. Our next children, twins, were harder to do. I finally made a list of all the names that I liked for both girls and boys and gave him the list. That way no matter what name he picked off the list, I liked. Good thing he like the names on the list. Now we have a Tiffany and a Brent. Middle names for the boys were after their grandfathers. my Husband's dad was gone when Kaleb was born so he was named after him, Marvin. And my father died after Kaleb was born and so Brent is named after him, Lee. Tiffany got Ann, after her mother. We knew the sex of all the babies way before they were born, but never told anyone else until after the babies were born.
