Feminine Protection Usage

What was the first type of feminine protection you used - pads, tampons, menstrual cup? Do you still use the same feminine protection, or did you switch completely - when, why?

I've tried them all.

I used the pads. However, I always spotted on my panties. I still use pads for protection but I wear "the period panties to sleep". I began to use tampon in high school b/c I was a swimmer on the urging of my swim coach. I never knew such a thing b/c my grandmother would say dont get in the tub due to bleeding etc. You know old school of thought. But actually it sort of stops when you you are submerged into water. I enjoy using the tampon.. Still use it. Menstrual cup. Well b/c I flowed so heavy. I thought the mentrual cup would help. IT was very messy to me. It might be because I have a tilted uterus. But I kept bleeding alot. But I think it helped to see that I wasnt losing as much blood as I had previously thought. It always looks so much in the tampon. But that's just the absorbency in the cotton. Tampon are the best. Never had any issues with them. No odor etc. I think you must change them frequently and Always leave the string hanging out. So you remember! I've heard of stories where people have forgotten them! Yikes!

switched to re-usable options

I used pads when I first started at age 11. Sometimes I'd use tampons, during high school and college, but I never really liked them.

Now, I've been using cloth pads and a Diva Cup, and I really like the re-usable factor in both methods! Plus, my cloth pads without their absorbent liners make great everyday pantyliners. I don't feel as sweaty and icky down there during my periods, with cloth. And they last about as long as a disposable pad would.

Feminine Protection Usage

I started out wearing pads, and pretty much stuck with them. I tried using tampons but couldn't get past the fact that they reminded me of a cork. In the past year I switched to cloth pads and LOVE them!!! They are soft and comforting during that time of month plus you save a ton of money. I have had 4 kids and am in my mid thirties so rinsing and soaking my pads dosn't bother me. I suppose the thought could be a little intimidating for someone just starting out.

Using tampons doesn't make me a virgin anymore?!?

When I was younger I started off with pads. My friends always told me that if I used a tampon I wouldn't be a virgin anymore, which scared me to death. After a few years of wearing pads, my mom finally asked me why I didn't try anything different. I told her what my friends said and she cleared everything up for me. After that talk I switched to tampons, which I still use today. Since I'm very active, tampons just seem to fit better into my lifestyle, but I'm always up for trying something new :)
