When Did You Decide Baby Names?

I chose my daughter's name kind of on a whim. I was 100% sure (because of my dreams) that she was a boy and was thus going to be Tyson William Daniel. When the doctor said "It's a girl!" I actually said "Say, what?". Then 5 minutes later they were asking me what I was going to name her... my husband looked at me and said, weren't we going with Samantha (we had a 10 second discussion about girls names once, but this was going to be a boy so we never thought much about it.... even the nursery was blue lol)... so Samantha Rae it was. We now call her Sam or Sammi tho... she's such a little Tomboy...hehe.

From being a teenager I had decided that when I had a baby girl she would be called Jessie Anne, after both of my grandmothers. No matter what anyone said to me I stuck with the name.

I was 23 years old when I became pregnant and I was convinced I was carrying a girl and she was going to be called Jessie Anne. My partner agreed, because he knew I loved the name. We talked about boys names but could not find a name we liked and did not think we would need a boys name.

We agreed that if it was a girl I would pick the name and if it was a boy then my partner would pick the name. He chose Callum. I did not really like the name, but was so convinced the baby was a girl that it did not really matter.

I went into labour 9 weeks early and after a ultrasound scan the doctor inadvertantly told me the baby was a boy. I was shocked!! I accepted that my baby was a boy and was called Callum. After 5 days of the doctors trying to stop my labour, I finally went into full labour. A few minutes before I delivered my son, I insisted to my partner that I hated the name Callum and my son would not be called Callum.

I changed my mind once he was born (it only took 3 minutes to deliver him) and saw he was definately Callum.

That was 10 years ago. I would have loved to have had more children, especially a girl to call Jessie Anne, but that is no longer possible and I am so happy with my gorgeous Callum.

Way, before I was pregnant. I love the names James. And when i married my husband James Edward Jr. I thought it was only right to give my first born his father name.

I was on a time limit when my husband and I picked the names we wanted. My father was dying of cancer and I wanted to share everything, even future plans, with him. So, my husband (boyfriend/fiance at the time) and I decided to get engaged. My father was thrilled. My husband and I knew we were on a time limit, so we started talking about baby names. Jade Elizabeth and Orren James, (James after my father) are what we both decided on. When I told my father, "daddy, If I have a boy his middle name will be James," he gave me the biggest smile. Unfortunally, my father never got to see my wedding and won't get to see grandchildren. But, at least he knew some of the future we have planned, and I'm happy that I got to see him smile over the names we picked. As of now we are trying for a baby. It'll be a year we've been trying in Sept. Someday we will have our little Orren or Jade, till then my husband will ask me every month, "are we having a Jade or Orren yet?"

My hubby and I have a 3 yr old daughter and a 2 yr old son. We knew our son was going to be a jr from the getgo. My hubby always wanted to name his first son after him. Our daughter was easy too - we had a few names we liked and settled on Kaitlin, and when we found out it was a girl at the ultrasound, we decided on the middle name that night!

Now, we are trying for our third, and we can't agree on a name at all! For a boy or a girl! Arg! All the names I love, he can't stand. Even those names I used to really like, that he now likes, I no longer like enough! To make matters worse, I guess, we have decided to wait until the baby is born to find out what sex it is! I think it would be neat to see what the baby looks like and give him/her a name that fits - if that's even possible! My hubby doesn't like that idea. Of course not!

But for now, we just have to concentrate on conceiving #3!

I have always had my children named during pregnancy. I wanted to start using their names right away as soon as we found out if we were having a boy or a girl. Now it seems the thing to do is keep it a secret, which is driving me crazy! My sister won't tell us the name, and now I am afraid it will be something really strange! UGH!
