So Long Period Stains
Who hasn't had a period stain or two along the way? From undies to fav jeans, period stains can be a royal pain. But happily they're often non-fatal and can be mostly/completley removed.
What period stain removal strategies have you tried and what works best for you?

Spit on it!
My mother lives by Gain for the old stains (put the liquid detergent directly on the stain and let sit before you wash). I use Shout spray and spit for stains that have sat less than a day.
I thought it was crazy too when my boyfriend suggested it, but your saliva contains enzymes that are designed to break down starches, sugars, and fats - which are in blood.
The stain must be recent, but as weird as this is, I swear by it.
So if I have a leaky pad at night or a spot or two on my underwear at the end of the day, I'll be found spraying a shot or two of shout on it while I muster up a good bit of spit to remove the stain.

Peroxide
Rinse out the stain as best as possible with cold water *do not use hot water it will set the stain* Then use peroxide *regular store bought hydrogen peroxide costs about 62 cents for a bottle* let it fuzz and fizz. Then put some liquid detergent on the stain rub in and then wash as usual.

Rinse, Shout, Rinse, wash.
Shout stain remover is your friend. Rinse them or it out (whatever the situation may be) in COLD water. Spray some shout stain remover on the stain, rub it in (with a rag or something) and let it sit. Rinse it out again about 5 minutes later, then wash as usual.

Carpet Cleaner
Spot Shot Carpet Stain Remover--I found out how well it worked when I had surgery and due to complications bled all over my sheets. It worked to get that out and off the binder that I have to wear. I figured if it worked for that it will work for period stains--it does. It does not damage the material. My binder is nylon and I have used Spot Shot on there dozens of times in the past few months.
My mom discovered the Spot Shot trick. Thank goodness for Moms!
Peroxide also works, but not as good as the stain remover.

Lemon Juice
Cold water and lemon juice... Cold water of course breaks the blood particles away from the linen...add the lemon juice best if fresh...and holds the acid compound of the natural lemon. It will take out any blood stain.
