SAHM or Working Mom?

Did you (or will you) stop working and be a Stay at Home Mom (SAHM)? Why or why not? Any regrets in your decision, like do you find yourself wanting to go back to work, or in the middle of a meeting do you wish you were home instead? What would you tell other mom-to-bes who are considering being a SAHM - do it or not?

SAHM or Working Mom?

Make the right decision

I am a mother of two and it was hard to decide if I should stay home or go back to work. And I choose work. But I regret it due to the first two weeks in daycare my children where sick and I had to take leave. What I recommend is if working is a must wait until 4 to 6 months because it is very hard dealing with a sick infant.

SAHM or Working Mom?

5 stars for SAHM

I am a mother of two, 8 and 5 years of age, and have been a SAHM now for 5 years. I have to say that it is one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. I have the great privilege of getting to homeschool both my children and it is a delight to watch them grow and learn and know that I am a part of that. There have been times when I get tired of being wife, or mommy, and just want to be me. When that happens I get together with some friends or try and do something nice for myself. I have gone back to work briefly because of finances, but just a couple of weeks later was back at home, injured from work, and relieved to again be able to devote the majority of my time towards my family and not a bunch of people who didn't even know me. There will always be pros and cons to every decision one makes in life, but what better way to spend yours than making someone elses the best it can be. Money comes and goes but love is for life.

SAHM or Working Mom?

SAHM

Technically I am a SAHM but not by choice. I've had a really hard time finding a job. But I am in school full-time. Once I find a decent paying job that I can manage my bills and still take care of my kids, I'll work. For now, I'm just a student. There's nothing wrong with being a SAHM, it's just not something I want to do, especially since I am a SM (single mom).

SAHM or Working Mom?

I have actually been very blessed to stay home with both of my girls for the most part since they have been born. I don't regret the choice that me and my husband made but I do find myself wanting to go to work. I miss the time away from home though I decided to start my own home business and since I have done that it has given me that fulfillment that I have been missing, my time out with other adults.
I say if you ever have the option to be a stay at home mom do it. You won't believe the benefits of always being there for their first of everything. It can be stressful but you learn to manage. I have been able to get a pretty good schedule and now even the kids help me out with the house work. I would never change being an at home mom and I can't wait to have another.
For all you moms that are working mom's I give you guys all kudos too. I did it for about 3 months with my first daughter and I can only imagine what you guys do every day.

SAHM or Working Mom?

planning on working

If I ever get the chance to even have a child, I will be a working mother. If we can afford for someone to stay at home, it will be my husband. I make almost twice as much as he does, and have the potential to make more. It makes more sense to have me working and for him to stay home.

Plus, I would be miserable at home. I really do not want any children I may have to feel as if I resented them for any reason. I love my job and the work I do.

I am a paramedic and my husband is a dispatcher. Our odd hours mean that we would only need child care a couple of evenings a week. And we have a wonderful family and network of friends who have repeatedly told us they are more than willing to pitch in if we need it.

My hat goes off to those who can and do stay-at-home. I could never do it. Even as a kid, when the other little girls were playing "house", I was out with the boys playing cops and robbers.

SAHM or Working Mom?

Working mom vs Stay at home mom's

My husband and I decided that I would stay at home with our daughter till she started full day kindergarten and I did. I went back to work and when my daughter was 12 I got pregs with our second child and I had a lot of concentration issues with leaving my daughter. So I quit my job and took a few classes. I think that women have to do what is best for them in them in thier current situation. I know many working moms who are just as good mothers if not better than stay at home moms. Sometimes being a stay at home mom is very difficult on our mental health. So I give my hats off to those women who are able to stay at home and enjoy it. But working mothers can be just as good at what they do too!
