SAHM or Working Mom?

Did you (or will you) stop working and be a Stay at Home Mom (SAHM)? Why or why not? Any regrets in your decision, like do you find yourself wanting to go back to work, or in the middle of a meeting do you wish you were home instead? What would you tell other mom-to-bes who are considering being a SAHM - do it or not?

SAHM or Working Mom?

SAHM with a little dabbling of being a working mom

I've been a SAHM for about a year and a half and I really enjoy it. I had to return to work when my eldest was 3 weeks old out of necessity and worked until part way through my pregnancy with my second a year and a half ago (my eldest was 11 y.o).
I really enjoy being home for my kids, helping my daughter with her homework right after school, making dinner and being there for all of my son's firsts.
I started substituting on a casual basis at an infant toddler childcare centre that I worked at before I got pregnant the second time and I really like it. My son comes to daycare with me and I'm always home by the time my dd gets home from school. I like that there's work for me if I want it but I'm not commited to any set schedule.

Worker Bee

I'm a working mom, full time out of the house. In an ideal world for me, I'd be able to stay at home full time, or do something part time to get me out of the house.
Since we live in an area of extremely high housing prices, we both needed to keep working or chose to live in a small apartment with a long commute for my husband's job.
We purchased our home last year in a good neighborhood close to our employers. We have a great yard and friends close by. My son goes to a sitter just a couple miles from my office, and we're just about 15 minutes from home this way.
I am fortunate that my employer values family and allows me a great deal of flexibility to take care of my son. As he gets older and is joined by siblings, (?!?!!) I'll be able to do the field trips and class parties my mom always did for me. The bonus is my son will have the stability of a permanent home he might not have had living in an apartment, and we are able to save for college and retirement.

Stay at home mom to twins

HI, I am a stay at home mom to 3 year old fraternal twins, I love it. It is the best job in the world. Now that they are getting older I am starting up something from home so that I am always there for them.

BEING A WORKING MOM

I would have loved to stay home with my little boy every day if i could have. But i had him when i was a senior in high school and i HAD to stay in school and graduate. since then i've graduated and got a good job to support him. I miss out on alot of things he learns in day care but it is good for him to be around some one who actually has expirience teaching young kids like him. I wonder some times if he would be as smart and intellectual as he is if i had kept him home with me. I dont regret it at all but what mother doesnt want to be with her kids more? Its been good for me to learn how it is to be the sole income for a family. I'm very proud of what i do, and i'm not sure i would be able to be home all day every day. I guess i'm just used to being at work every day. I am part time tho, so i get more time with my kid than full time working moms do.
