First Period Experience
Where were you when your first period started? How old were you? Did you talk to your mom, friends? What was your initial reaction? Retrospectively, could it have been different or more positive experience, and, if so, how?

I was 9 when I started mine, I was riding my bike when it happened, at first i thought id hurt myself, but soon realised what it was. I didnt tell my mum for years, I was too frightend as she made it out to be a disgusting thing and I thought id get into trouble. It was one of the worst times of my life, i had to hide it for so long and was really ashamed of it.
Ive got kids of my own - one is a girl, im determined to ensure my kids never have to go through what i did. Its a natural thing and part of growing up and nothing to be ashamed of. Its just a shame my mum never made me feel ok about it!!!
